THE WORKSHOP
Registration is open for my five week workshop called, Novel Blueprint: Learn to Write Your Story Start to Finish, beginning Saturday March 1 at 10:30 am ET.
I’m a novelist currently writing my seventh novel, and I’ve been teaching and providing editorial support to writers for years. And here’s what I can promise you. If you commit to honing four key craft elements—and you embrace a methodical approach to revision—you will not only finish your novel, you’ll maximize the chance that agents and editors will want to read your work.
No matter where you are in the drafting process, this workshop will help. Have a story idea? A half finished draft or a nearly completed manuscript? Let me take you through the most important craft decisions you will make at every phase. Ones that must be authentic to you while also compelling to readers.
In five weeks, you’ll learn to see the potential in your work, while also gaining a strong ability to assess your pages and execute on techniques that will bring your material to the next level.
Each week we’ll focus on one of the four critical and structural areas of craft: 1] central conflict 2] character perspective 3] the chain of consequence for action and emotion and 4] creating stakes and tension. Throughout the workshop, you’ll put your own writing through a series of prompts and exercises. The final week is dedicated to revision strategies for editing your work at every stage of a novel’s development. And we’ll discuss ways to stay motivated to do the work once the sessions end.
You’ll come away from our time together with new knowledge and tools, as well as the inspiration and confidence to take your draft over the finish line.
